Summer Programme

Summer Revision Programme and Mocks
Overview
I run a summer programme for Year 5 students in the weeks leading up to the 11+.We focus on strengthening key areas, improving exam technique, and giving students regular practice with well-written papers so that they feel confident going into the tests.
Why this programme is different
The 11+ maths papers written by selective schools are not simply a collection of standard questions. They are designed to test how well students can apply their knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.
This is where many students struggle; they may be secure with the content, but find it difficult to recognise what is being asked when the question is presented in a less familiar way.
As a former Grammar School Head of Maths, with 20 years’ experience teaching in that environment, and as an 11+ examiner involved in writing and marking these papers, I have worked with these assessments at the level at which they are set.
That experience shapes both the papers I write and the way I teach.
It is the combination of teaching, carefully written papers, and detailed review that allows students to develop this way of thinking.
What students will be doing
Revision lessons
Targeted teaching on key topic areas, with an emphasis on efficient methods and clear understanding.
Mock papers
Timed papers that reflect the level and style of selective school exams.
Review sessions
Detailed walk-throughs of solutions, focusing on common errors and better approaches.
Programme structure
The programme runs throughout August and follows a clear weekly pattern:
-
Revision lessons at the start of the week (offered on two separate days)
-
A timed mock paper midweek
-
A review session before the next paper
This gives students the chance to learn, apply, and then reflect before moving on.
Topics covered during revision lessons
-
Complex numeracy, fractions and percentages
-
Length, area and volume
-
Ratio, proportion and money problems
-
Time and averages
-
Graphs, diagrams and geometry

Pricing
Revision sessions are priced at £30 (per session)
The mock papers are priced at:
-
Live sitting with review session = £45.

Independent mock access = £30
Parents can choose the sessions that best suit their child; there is no requirement to attend the full programme.
