Year 6/7 Enrichment Group

Year 6/7 Enrichment Maths Back by Popular Demand!

After a hugely successful year, I’m delighted to announce that my Enrichment Maths Course for Year 6 and Year 7 students will return this autumn.

This group began organically when my Year 5 students, having thoroughly enjoyed their 11+ preparation, became curious about what more mathematics had to offer. Some went on to secure places at grammar schools, others did not — but all of them developed a genuine love for the subject, which I count as my greatest success.

Too often, Year 6 students experience a slump after the 11+. They’re ahead of their peers but stuck revisiting old topics in class, and they begin to disengage. My enrichment lessons are designed to reignite their excitement — showing them that mathematics is not just about long division or fractions, but about patterns, logic, structure, and discovery.

We’ve explored fascinating topics such as:

  • Zeno’s Paradox

  • Probability and Game Theory

  • Pascal’s Triangle

  • Quadratic Sequences & Straight Line Graphs

  • Binary Numbers and Parity

  • ISBN Codes and Multiplication Mysteries

  • Logarithms and Real-Life Applications

  • … and even why athletics tracks are shaped the way they are!

These sessions are meticulously planned to:

  • Stretch high-ability students well beyond the Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum

  • Offer a taste of the beauty and depth of mathematics

  • Inspire curiosity and critical thinking

  • Provide challenge without the pressure of weekly homework

Many current members are now thriving at grammar schools, and some of the most able Year 7 students (already in selective schools) have found that this group offers what their schools cannot — a deeper and more exciting experience of maths.

This year’s group will run on Thursdays at 4:45pm, starting after the October half term. Places are limited to ensure small group teaching and active participation — so if your child loves maths and is ready to be inspired, I’d love to welcome them.

Let’s show them just how far mathematics can take them.
